Jo Land

Jo Land is a final year student on the BSc Social Sciences degree at University College London. She is working as a Volunteer Research Assistant on the Brexit and Social Climate project. Jo has focused her academic interests on psychology, social policy and health. She is a mature student from the North East of England with a career background in music and the arts. This led her to social entrepreneurship (running a community arts café) and community organisation in the face of proposed closures of arts centres and health and social care services serving the most vulnerable people in one of the most socioeconomically deprived areas of England.

This experience led Jo to become interested in studying the social psychology of social issues and group processes, and the application of social psychology to social policy issues such as health and the environment. She hopes to enter postgraduate study next year in order to further these research interests and intends that her dissertation will focus on applying Moscovici’s Social Representations Theory to the issue of climate change.
