I am a Royal Society University Research Fellow, researching the physics of atomic-scale wires (there is a technical description of my project here and a layman's description here). I am particularly interested in the physics of wires on semiconductor surfaces, two of which are described below along with more of my research.

I concentrate on electronic structure calculations, particularly of growth of semiconductor surfaces and nanostructures on semiconductor surfaces. My present research projects include:

Anyone interested in doing a PhD with me should look here for details of possible projects, and email me.

There are various tools which help with visualisation of the results of electronic structure calculations (using codes such as VASP) on this page.

There is an html copy of my thesis here: "A theoretical investigation of the gas source growth of Si(001)". If you really want, you can take it away in hard-copy: the Bodleian Library has a PDF version here.
