About The Study

Family-making and reproduction is made up of diverse constellations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and/or transgender (LGBTQ+) parent-led homes. This project aims to gain a better understanding of resilience and vulnerability, as multi-level constructs, in pregnancy and birth outcomes. Data will be collected through a pair of online surveys, an at-home journal activity, and medical records as a means of assessing stressors and potential differences across LGBTQ+ and cisgender, heterosexual pregnancies.

Legacies and Futures is a PhD project at the Thomas Coram Research Unit, housed at the Social Research Institute of University College London. Funding has been provided through a Doctoral Studentship on the Social Policy pathway as part of the UBEL doctoral training partnership, which is supported by the Economic and Social Research Council.
