Request transgenic mice from the Bill Richardson/ Nicoletta Kessaris labs

We thank the UK Medical Research Council, The Wellcome Trust, the European Research Council, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the US National Institutes of Health and The Royal Society for past and present support.

We have generated a number of transgenic strains, mainly BAC or PAC transgenics by pronuclear injection.   If you wish to obtain these please follow the steps below.

  1. email Bill Richardson  and/or Nicoletta Kessaris (see table below) outlining your proposed project in a few sentences.

  1. Please note that our animal facility is currently testing positive for Mouse Hepatitis Virus (MHV) which could create a problem for your animal facility.  Please first check with your animal facility that they can receive the mice before we initiate the export process. The latest Health Reports for our animals can be found here: Health report Mar 08, Health report Oct 08, MHV screen Jan 09, Health report May 09 room 1, Health report May 09 room 2, Health report June 10 room 1, Health report Nov 11 room 1, Health report July 12 room 1, Health report Feb 13 room 1.  Further queries about mouse health status or husbandry should be directed to Nick Davies.   Here are answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.

  1. Complete the mouse request form and email it to our transgenic facility manager Ulla Dennehy

  1. Download the relevant Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) from the table below, sign and return direct to UCL Business (address is on the MTA).

  1. For shipments outside the UK please download the Home Office Transfer Form and complete/amend the highlighted sections.  Then email it to Ulla Dennehy for signature (you do not need to sign). We try to ship mice as soon as they are ready (usually within 3-4 months) but please allow a time window of 1 year for the shipment on the HO transfer form.

  1. For shipments within the UK, please download the UK Home Office Transfer Form, complete/amend the highlighted sections and return by post to Ulla Dennehy, Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research, UCL, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT.   Alternatively, you might already have permission written into your Project Licence to import/export animals within the UK, in which case you do not need to complete the transfer form – but please let Ulla Dennehy know.

We normally ship three (3) males of breeding age. We regret that we cannot routinely ship embryos.

Please note that we depend on you to pay costs.  Our facility routinely uses Harlan UK for the shipment– unfortunately, we cannot use other couriers.  Shipment is organized by Nick Davies
