Silicate liquids at high pressure
    Atomic and electronic structure

    Thermochemistry of solution

A key goal of our first principles molecular dynamics simulations of silicate liquids is to understand the relationship between the structure of silicate liquids and physical properties such as the equation of state, and energetics of solution. These studies will be important for developing a global thermodynamic model of silicate liquids that will allow us to address magma generation, transport, and crystallization over the entire regime encountered during Earth's history from an initial magma ocean to present day igneous processes.
