________________

An important part of the project has been the training of graduate students and post-doctoral researchers from Karnatak University and other institutions in techniques of archaeological survey, exploration and analysis.    During the project, students have learned fieldwalking, survey and analytical skills.  They have also received instruction in the identification of stone tool types and pottery styles, section drawing and finds drawing.  Students have also benefitted from the opportunity to visit many new sites, and carry out fieldwork with experienced archaeologists, as well as assist in the logistical planning of fieldwork on a day-to-day basis.
