Department of Spanish and Latin American StudiesFrancesca teaches a general course on modern Latin American narrative, and more specialised courses on women's novels and the nation, women writers and the avant-guarde, and autobiographical fiction in Latin America. She has published El abanico y la cigarrero (1995) and also articles on nineteenth-century Latin American women's literature. Her research interests include feminist literary theory, nineteenth-century travel writing and testimonial narratives.
