Scientific research has resulted in significant changes in both food and medicines over the last decades. Some of these changes, like GM crops or Dolly the cloned sheep, have been controversial. This research project examines how these changes affect members of the public, and how further advances in genetics and biotechnology may change the relationship between you, the food you eat and the medicines you take.
Because advances such as genetically modified crops, cloning, stem cells and drug-producing chickens may affect us all, my research is interested in what people think about them, what their values and opinions are and how these developments relate to them, not about what they know.
This research gives you the chance to contribute to understanding the complicated relationship between scientists, industry, government and the public in the introduction of new technologies.
