Length Five dangling bond wire on Si(001)

This image shows the spin difference for a length five dangling bond wire. We see that there is a strong spin polarisation down the length of the wire (green indicate zero spin, red spin up and blue spin down). This contrasts strongly with the physical structure, which is rather flat.
