These are the courses I have taught and/or continue to teach at UCL: maths on the UPCSE pre-undergraduate course, communication in maths on the UPCSE course, scientific writing on the IPM pre-master's course, and some basic maths and stats for the UPCSE biology course. On this website you will find various notes on these subjects. If you want to email me, you can do so at uczlcfe@ucl.ac.uk.
Here you will find detailed notes on various topics in maths, suitable for both A-level students as well as undergraduate students. These notes contain a lot of explanation along with non-standard topics which you won't find in textbooks.
Here you will find powerpoint slides, as well as examples and exercises, designed to support the presentation of mathematics for the UPCSE maths course.
I teach a course in scientific writing for the STEM group of the IPM pre-Masters course, and is designed to help students learn to write in an academic scientific way. The STEM groups is split into two, one related to the maths and computer science groups, and one relating to the engineering group.
I teach some basic maths and stats for the Biology course on the UPCSE programme. Topics include: i) conversion of units, numbers in standard form, reading micrographs, ii) the normal, z- and t-distributions along with significance testing, iii) drawing bar charts, graphs, and scatter plots along with lines of best fit, iv) chi-squared distribtion and testing, and v) plotting log-linear graphs.
Here you will find complete solutions to some exercises from A-level pure and mechanics textbooks. For the moment I am working on exercises from the standard Edexcel and AQA textbooks as well as Bostock and Chandler (pure), Sadler and Thoring (pure and mechanics). I will add more solutions as and when I get to do them.
