BANGOR NETBALL CLUB HISTORY
In Northern Ireland netball enjoys the position of being the most popular team sport for women. Over 4000 schoolgirls and approximately 600 adults play the sport each week.
Bangor Netball Senior Club has been established since 1980, Bangor is the only netball club in the North Down area. We have a reputation among our competitors as being a progressive, dynamic and developing force within the netball arena. Bangor Junior Club was established in 1994. Players are between the ages of 12 and 16. Friendly matches for the Juniors are always welcome.
The Club currently has approximately 40 senior members and 30 junior members.

SENIOR CLUB
Training Tuesdays 8pm-10pm in Bangor Castle Leisure
Centre, Castle Park Road, Bangor, Co. Down,
Northern Ireland. Training is between
September and May each year.
Competition We have 4 Teams who compete in the Northern
Ireland Netball league which runs from
October - April each year:
1st Team - "A" League
(top league in
NI)
2nd Team - "B" League
3rd Team - "C" League
4th Team - Qualifying League
Each team also competes in Northern Ireland
Shield and Plate fixtures culminating in a
final at the end of the netball season.
Coaching The Club has both a Fitness Coach and a
Skills Coach. Our new skills coach is
currently over from New Zealand to help
Bangor to further develop their netball
skills which will take Bangor into the
millennium.
JUNIOR CLUB
Training Tuesdays 6.30pm - 8.00pm at North Down &
Ards Institute of Further and Higher
Education, Castle Park Road, Bangor, Co.
Down, Northern Ireland. Training is
between September and May each year.
Competition 2 Teams who compete in the Northern Ireland
U17 Netball League which runs from October
- April each year.
Teams are also entered in the Northern
Ireland Junior Tournament which takes place
in January at two levels U15 and U17.
Coaching
The junior club is organised by two members
of the senior club Ms Liz Burnside who is
also an Northern Ireland coach and Ms
Janine Winter who is the assistant coach.
ACHIEVEMENTS
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Club is managed by a committee of eight club members elected at the Annual General Meeting. The committee meet bi-monthly and are responsible for the policy, general administration and the development of the Club.
