I am an empirical microeconomist with an interest in social inequalities. My papers combine administrative microdata, and, more recently, data from a natural experiment, with insights from applied microeconomic theory (dynamic decision-making, general equilibrium, and game theoretic models of social interactions). This approach has two goals. The first one is to evaluate large-scale policies that are likely to have complex dynamic or general equilibrium effects. The second goal is to use insights from theory to derive lessons that can guide empirical work.

Education is one of the most important determinants of lifetime opportunities and my research so far has focused on the economics of education systems. In ongoing work I also explore inequalities on the labor market, with a focus on the role of non-cognitive skills in determining the gender gap in lifetime earnings. My general fields of study include Labor, Education, Development, and Applied Microeconometrics.

In future projects, I would like to design and collect data from randomized controlled trials (RCT). Combining RCT with structural estimation will allow me to use experimental data variation as a source of identification and model validation, and to use theory to extrapolate the experimental results to a broader context.
