Teaching

As a member of the research staff at UCL, I don't have a particularly high teaching load. However, I get involved as much as possible (as time allows) with university teaching within the department, and I now teach the majority of the ECRC's highly regarded Numerical Course, collaboration with John Birks (Bergen & UCL). I also advise Masters and Ph.D. students, particularly with data analysis advice.

I am also available to teach in-house courses, workshops, or one-off training in the use of the R statistical software for analysing ecological, biological, environmental and palaeoecological data. Recent courses have been taught at the

Numerical Analysis of Biological & Environmental Data

This highly regarded, long-running course, offered as part of the ECRC's Short Course programme, and regularly attracts participants from around the world from a wide range of academic backgrounds. Aimed at postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers and established academics alike, the course provides practical training in modern techniques for the analysis of ecological and environmental data. I convene the course, teach 10 of the 12 lecture classes and run the computer classes, the remaining lectures are given by Prof. John Birks (Bergen & UCL).
