Research group activity concentrates on understanding the key biological processes that drive and maintain biodiversity. We are also interested in the factors that determine species abundances in space and time, and also how they may be affected by natural and anthropogenic disturbances. There is a particular emphasis on diverse communities such as tropical forests, and epiphytic lichens but we also study bacteria, protist and vertebrate populations and communities.
