Notes for Pre-paper Authors

The following applies to those conference delegates whose pre-paper abstracts have been accepted for inclusion in the conference. Please note that papers will be pre-circulated beforehand. No papers will be presented on the day, although authors will have the opportunity to briefly summarise their pre-papers (more information on summaries to follow) with session time being dedicated primarily to discussion.

Authors are kindly requested to adhere to the following guidelines in preparing their pre-papers:

  • Word count: 5000-8000 words, not including the list of references
  • Font size: 12
  • Font type: Times New Roman or Arial
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: no less than 2.5 cm
  • Ensure all pages are numbered
  • Avoid footnotes
  • Referencing: see abstracts for examples of in-text citation and reference list style
  • Illustrations are encouraged and may be included in-text as figures, or follow as plates
  • Papers must be submitted in the English language. Where English is the author's second language and proficiency may be at an intermediate level, authors are kindly asked to ensure a native English speaker reviews the paper prior to submission. The conference organisers regret that they are unable to assist in this work.
  • Papers of a file size of no more than 10MB should be submitted in PDF format to the conference email: materialityofwriting@googlemail.com
The submission deadline is: Thursday 30 April 2009.

We regret that pre-papers submitted after this deadline cannot be included in the programme.

Pre-papers will be made available via download on the Abstract and Pre-papers webpage from 1 May 2009.
