Book Description

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were not the lone conspirators in the Oklahoma City bombing-the attack that killed nearly 170 people in a few short seconds. They were part of a greater scheme, one which involved Islamic terrorists and at least one provable link to Iraq. This book, written by the relentless reporter who first broke the story of the Mideast connection, is filled with new revelations about the case and explains in full detail the complete, and so far untold, story behind the failed investigation-why the FBI closed the door, what further evidence exists to prove the Iraqi connection, why it has been ignored, and what makes it more relevant now than ever. Told with a gripping narrative style and rock-solid investigative journalism and vetted by men such as former CIA director James Woolsey, Davis's piercing account is the first book to set the record straight about what really happened April 19, 1995.

Very Credible Book, April 20, 2004
By Confederate (Bethesda, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Third Terrorist: The Middle East Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing (Hardcover)
It's abundantly clear that people leaving reviews here have never read the book they're reviewing. Otherwise they wouldn't be making the snide, ignorant remarks they're making.

I've read Jayna Davis' reports since she first began her investigation and her culminating work is a top-notch example of investigative reporting at its best. She did what the FBI didn't do, didn't want to do, and what other reporters were too lazy to do. While the FBI edited and fabricated its witness reports, Davis carefully interviewed the witnesses and objectively reports what they saw and heard.

Her years of research have paid off, but even she can't finish her story without the aid and support of honest intelligence gathering. To me she's proved the connection without a doubt. Now it's time for the government to tell what it knows.

Read the book yourself and judge. Chances are you'll see the Iraq war in an entirely new light. For liberals, this book will dash their fondest desire to blame the extreme right wing militia groups and "Christian fanatics." But to objective readers, it will open up an entirely different reality backed up with facts.

Recommended highly.

Every US citizen should read this book, May 1, 2004
By Michael Freeman (Blanchard, OK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Third Terrorist: The Middle East Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing (Hardcover)
I cannot say enough good things about this book. Jayna Davis, over the last nine years, has persisted in uncovering and proclaiming the truth about the Oklahoma City Bombing, something our own federal government staunchly refuses to do.

Books like this often are immediately dismissed by so-called "intellectuals" and other liberal-types as right-wing drivel. My answer to that is people like that need to pull their heads out of the sand and study the facts of what the author is presenting. Ms. Davis has done a stellar job of documenting her investigation (in stark contrast to the amateur job done by the FBI and DOJ) and the conclusions reached thereby. No one with a shred of common sense can say that the facts Ms. Davis present point to two home-grown terrorists acting alone.

In short, Ms. Davis has proof (beyond reasonable doubt, in my professional and personal opinion) that a former Iraqi soldier (probably a former member of Saddam's Republican Guard) named al-Huseini helped plan and execute the bombing, and accompanied McVeigh IN THE VEHICLE as he pulled the Ryder truck in front of the fated Murrah Building on April 19, 1995. Davis' extensive interviews document the other Iraqi collaborators as well, and "connect the dots" not only to the OKC bombing, but to the later terrorist attacks on America as well.

I am NOT a conspiracy theorist, but this one is so obvious it is undeniable. The federal government, despite having been shown to have conducted an incomplete and indeed incompetent investigation, and in fact having committed outright lying, falsification of evidence, and other possible CRIMES, refuses to acknowledge the evidence Ms. Davis has presented.

I have nothing negative to say about the book, except to say I wish it had a happier ending documenting complete truthfulness from our government. Ms. Davis, for the sake of America, and for the sake of freedom and democracy around the world, I hope and pray the final chapter has not yet been written. In a time when the words are so ridiculously overused, your work represents true bravery from a true hero(ine). God bless you.

This Pudding Needs Proof, October 17, 2005
By D. Mikels "It's always Happy Hour here" (Skunk Holler) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: The Third Terrorist: The Middle East Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing (Hardcover)
For those of you who buy the government's "official" version of the Oklahoma City bombing--that on the morning of April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh, all by himself, parked a Ryder rental truck packed with a 3,000 lb. fertilizer bomb in front of the Murrah Federal Building and subsequently made his getaway just minutes before the blast--well, have I got some prime lunar land for you. Fact of the matter is there were dozens of eyewitness accounts of a second man, a stocky, olive-skinned man who was seen in the cab of the truck, seen climbing out of the truck, even seen leaving the twisted carnage driving a pickup. This man became the infamous "John Doe 2," and his sketch, along with McVeigh's, saturated the television airwaves.

But then, inexplicably, just a handful of days later, the FBI announced they had their suspects--that there was no "credible evidence" of a John Doe 2. They had their guys--McVeigh and Terry Nichols, two disgruntled militant nutcases--and the feds steadfastly maintained these two men pulled off a terrorist act that killed 168 people in America's heartland--even though McVeigh's attorney, Stephen Jones, maintained McVeigh didn't possess enough munitions expertise to "blow up a rock."

So was there an international plot, a conspiracy, if you will, to blow up the Federal building in OKC? Jayna Davis, who at the time was an investigative reporter for TV station KFOR, ardently believes in an Iraqi connection to the bombing, and presents her evidence in her disturbing book THE THIRD TERRORIST. Davis theorizes that Saddam Hussein, humiliated by his defeat in the '91 Gulf War, dispatched several members of his beloved Republican Guard to the U.S., where the infiltrators learned how to construct massive bombs at a terrorist training camp near Chicago. The author alleges several of these Iraqis moved to OKC, where they were employed by a sympathetic developer with Palestinian terrorist connections. Through relentless investigating, interviewing, video taping, and the accumulation of affidavits, Davis maintains that a former Republican Guard officer by the name of Hussain Al-Hussaini accompanied McVeigh on that fateful April morning, followed by other Iraqis driving what turned out to be the getaway vehicles. Davis was the only reporter still covering the John Doe 2 aspect of the bombing, causing her to be ostracized by the rest of the OKC media, but her KFOR bosses allowed her to run with the story, and her evidence is very, very compelling. In fact, her reporting hit so close to home that Hussaini sued KFOR and Davis for libel--a lawsuit that ultimately was thrown out.

But Davis repeatedly laments that the FBI refused to take her investigation seriously--she even makes the allegation of a "cover-up." This is where I had problems with the book. Why would the feds turn a blind eye on Davis' investigative dossier and affidavits that clearly revealed a Middle Eastern connection to the bombing? Why wouldn't the Clinton administration take this information and run like the wind with it--if for nothing else than to distract the public from Clinton's scandal-ridden second term and impeachment? Davis provides no answers, and without credible answers, one questions the authenticity of the author's investigation.

THE THIRD TERRORIST is, as mentioned before, a disturbing read. It is also a most difficult read, based on the author's melodramatic writing style, a style that reminded me of a word-obsessed junior in love with every adjective in the dictionary. Plus Davis' account of her investigation following the bombing is all over the map; a single paragraph often incorporates activities or events taking place in two or three different years, making the author's story very hard to follow. There is little doubt McVeigh was not alone on April 19, 1995; yet Davis' THE THIRD TERRORIST can't quite get over the hump when it comes to conclusive proof that a group of Iraqis helped perpetrate this most heinous crime.
--D. Mikels, Author, WALK-ON
