Thank you for your interest in my research. At the moment I am developing a research group on heritage values which will focus on values-based approaches to heritage management and conservation; this topic relates to two projects I will be working on this spring regarding conservation documentation and gallery lighting policies. I believe the purpose of conservation is not merely to limit "damage" but to maximise value and benefit while minising damage, thereby facilitating use even when it might otherwise be considered "inappropriate"; investigating the many different forms this could take in various contexts is one of my foremost interests at the moment. This is one of the reasons why I have decided to spend part of the summer of 2014 as a staff member on the Fourth Expedition to Lachish, to investigate strategies for integrating my vision for conservation with archaeological site management and excavation practice.
Please do contact me if you are interested in learning more about my work or the new UCL research group on heritage values.
